About Fiona
Acupuncture & Chinese herbal medicine

I am an experienced and qualified Chinese medicine practitioner in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.
After graduating from the University of Edinburgh with Bsc / Nursing degree in 1988, I worked in Canada and the UK in intensive care and high dependency specialities before changing career. I graduated from the Northern College of Acupuncture in 1996 with a diploma in acupuncture and in 2001with a diploma in Chinese herbal medicine. I have been to Shanghai and Beijing In 1996 and 2005 to observe and study acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in hospital clinics specializing in general medicine and gynaecology.
I worked as an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist at Napier’s Clinic in Edinburgh from 1996 until 2012. During this time I taught for 2 years as a guest lecturer specializing in fertility at the Northern College of Acupuncture.
I set up the Albany Street Clinic in 2012 – a complementary health clinic in the Edinburgh New Town, where I continue in my role of co director whilst working with a team of other practitioners seeing patients with a wide variety of conditions.
I am also the co-director of the Natural Fertility Centre based at the Albany Street Clinic which offers a comprehensive and thorough complementary fertility health service within Scotland. It’s here that I see many women and men, assisting them individually or as a couple/ same sex couple along their fertility journey. This can be anywhere from preconception health, promoting natural conception to supporting them through Western medicine tests and treatments. I give individualized advice, as required, on Western medicine tests and treatments available in the UK and abroad. I also liaise with and refer onto other specialisms within the clinic such as nutrition, fertility massage or counselling.
Listening
I take time to really listen and take a thorough case history of each patient so I can form an individualised treatment plan and discuss specific lifestyle and dietary recommendations. As a member of the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine (RCHM) I follow their code of practice and conduct as well as undertake the necessary CPD (Continual Professional Development) requirements for membership which enhances my knowledge base and skill set on an ongoing basis.
